Sonic Bloom - Electronic, ambient and experimental music series – Tucson Arizona, Saturdays March 31 and April 21.
Mark Hosler (Negativland)
Baja Arizona-based world renown electronic composer and performer Steve Roach and Tucson’s Galactic Center will be curating an ongoing performance series expressing the vibrant and diverse community of electronic, ambient and experimental music artists based in Tucson and surrounding areas.
The Sonic Bloom series will feature a roster of solo artists or groups each presenting a set which morphs into the next artist as the evening evolves. The focus of these audio adventures will draw on hardware based sound creations via analog modular rigs, guitar and instrument looping, processing etc. Laptops are welcomed but encouraged to be part of an interactive live set up. The focus is about real time sound carving, improv and sonic explorations born from the moment and reaching beyond boundaries. Active, deep listening with the audience will be a vital part of the experience.
The opening of the series on Saturday March 31 – 7:30 PM will feature solo sets by Mark Hosler of Negativland and ambient stalwart Jeff Greinke. The cyberdelic combo of Will Merkle and Nathan Youngblood will complete this premier series of Tucson based sound artists.
Tickets $10 at the door. 35 E. Toole, Tucson 85701, 520 884 0874
The 2nd Sonic Bloom evening will be Saturday April 21 with solo ambient soundscape guitarist Peter Biedermann, soundscape-synth solo artists Geoscience, David Knight and Mark Morton.
